Hair replacement solutions and alternatives

There are several methods of dealing with hair replacement. Before you try any of them, make sure you understand what caused this condition, and whether it is reversible or not. Also, consider how much you are willing to spend on hair replacement, and how to you feel about the whole issue.

Many people, men and women alike, are perfectly comfortable with having less hair. Men voted among the sexiest of the world are bald – including movie star Bruce Willis, football player Zinedine Zidane and tennis player Andre Agassi. Also, many women undergoing chemotherapy decided to cut their hair short or shave their heads and wear it like that, with courage. There’s nothing wrong with that, but, if it makes you feel uncomfortable, there’s nothing wrong with covering or hair replacement, either.

The first option is hair styling, at the hairdresser. This works for small areas where the hair is rarer or thinner, and especially for women, who can use longer hair and complicate styling without raising suspicions. Another method is to apply a synthetic dye directly to the scalp, also to cover small patches. This is usually a temporarily solution, and works only if you can find the right color to match your hair.

The remaining two options are wearing a head piece, or going for a hair transplant. The main issue here is related to the cost, as the hair replacement procedure can be 100 times more expensive than the hair piece.

Women usually feel more comfortable with wigs than men. Also, if people notice a woman wearing a wig, they don’t necessary think that she may have a hair loss problem, but they may rather view it as a fancy dress-up, because so many women use wigs just for fun. Many women go for a wig that has an open artificial look – like a foxy red hair or a metallic blonde. Men, on the other hand, prefer toupees or wigs that look as close to the natural hair as possible, and avoid drawing attention on it.

In many cases, people who consider having hair replacement should also try wearing a wig before, to give them an idea how they will look after the transplant. Also, many may find a hair piece that suits them just fine, and save a lot of money on transplant later on. There are patients for whom transplant is not an option, for medical purposes, and so they have to use hair pieces.

Whatever your choice may be, surely the market offers something that suits you perfectly, looks and feels natural and increases your confidence and self esteem.
