Cause of Female Hair Loss

Female hair loss is a troubling condition that affects women all over the world regardless of age.  Women are affected by hair loss as often as men, though female hair loss patterns often look different. There is not just one cause, but the full complexity of the problem is not fully understood at this time.

Poor nutrition is a cause of female hair loss. A poor diet not only slows the growth rate of your body’s hair, but can actually cause it falling out. Women who are drug abusers, bulimics, and anorexics frequently experience this problem as their diseases progress since their bodies are being robbed of vitamins and nutrients. While these are extreme examples, milder forms of female hair loss can occur in people who eat too much junk food without varying their eating habits enough to include fresh fruits and vegetables along with the needed vitamins and minerals.

Another cause of female hair loss is stress. Stress can mean a lot of things, but ends up increasing the chances of female baldness, and accelerating any hairloss you are already experiencing. If you find yourself worked up a lot and having bouts of anxiety, try to find ways of relaxing. You might try cutting back on caffeine intake, meditating, listening to music, getting more exercise and fresh air, and lastly, getting more restful sleep.

Certain medications can be the cause of female hair loss as well. The best known examples are chemotherapy drugs used in cancer treatment. These medications target rapidly growing cells in the body, which means the cancer cells, but unfortunately also include your hair cells as well.

Genetic make up is another cause of female hair loss. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything you can do to change your genes, and some people are destined to lose their hair no matter what they do. If you follow some of the advice given here, your hairloss may slow it down, but it will more than likely happen eventually.

The good news is there are a number of treatments for even the most stubborn female hair loss. What works for some people doesn’t for others, so finding a good treatment is often a process of trial and error.

Consulting a doctor who specializes in the cause of female pattern baldness would probably be the best solution for stopping hairloss or replacing hair that has already been lost.
